Niels Matthijs 2010 discoveries!

Year-end lists a tradition very fine indeed. As in previous years, I've assembled a list of the best films I've seen for 12 months. No new content, movies and reviews were presented before Twitch, but a good reminder of the things you need to permanently on your list "to see" until you forget completely to their topic. Prepare yourself for a selection of film excellence (at least according to my taste).

10 Pk.com.cn

Chinese films are often very traditional themes and presentation. Pk.com.CN is a variant of welcome to regular production serving hyper-moderne romance dominated by social media and internet savvy characters. The resulting film is quite unique, even outside the limits somewhat limiting of Chinese cinema. It is for those who feel uncomfortable in these modern times and dare to embrace the social revolution. Is highly recommended.

09 Rising Valhalla
It is likely that you will be entirely sure what this film was when the end credits begin to roll on the screen. Not to worry, the route you are leading an experience in itself. Beautifully shot and beautifully acted by Mads Mikkelsen, Valhalla Rising is an adventure of testosterone-fueled among men and rough yet rougher. Drag to the couch and let this one come upon you.

08 Doll air
Kore-Eda returns with a dramatic and draped in a layer of pain pretty fairy tale. The film presents a doll sex coming to life, a simple but effective analogy for the underlying themes of air Doll. The result is a dream effort sometimes shred to pieces by the harsh reality of everyday life. Without any doubt one of my favorite Kore-Eda so far and welcome back after some more commercial films films.

07 M. person
Van Dormael everything went beyond that is the least you can say to Mr. Nobody. It is too ambitious and somewhat heavy in places, but the level of detail is so huge that I couldn't be annoyed by this minor a glitch. If anything, fatty strikes Van Dormael tackle the what in view is a refreshing alternative cinema art and test often dominated by the subtlety and refinement. Difficult to compare it to other movies, but don't miss all the.

06 Paco and the magical picture book
Remember when you were 6 years of age? Your imagination is more important than that the world had to offer. Even fantasy appeared was never really fully satisfy your needs in colours and strange creatures. Nakashima is damn close with his last. It is all in this fairy tale extremely colorful darkly. An explosion of detail and strangeness mussels this film in a little surprisingly poignant tale. I wish I could have seen it as a child but the experience as an adult is also good.

05 Mei 22

Mortar returns with a bang. Humour is pretty much disappeared after ex-tambour but gritty style of mortar is still pervasive. A unique exploration of a single event and affected persons, Mei 22 is a drama that remains abstract all of everything in still touching issues of his characters in a very emotional manner. Certainly not for everyone, it is not exactly cinema awareness in mind, but by far one of the best films come from Belgium so far. A bit of nationalist pride is here.

04 Godkiller
Not enough animation, not quite comical, Godkiller is an impressive introduction into the world of the illustrated movie. It takes some time to get accustomed to the concept, the pure substance cyberpunk story is not make exactly things more accessible, but once the film gets its grip on you is not. Add a soundtrack grindingly pleasant and that you have is one of the most original films 2010 Pizzolo is certainly for something here. If you're a fan of animation, you you try at least.

03 Tetsuo: Man bullet
Original home of the most recent film Tetsuo was not too positive. Although somewhat understandable manner "is how people are" I can not help me, but disagree completely here. Tsukamoto there yet. The film seems completely impressive seems completely impressive and to burn a hole in your television screen, before the end credits appear. Chances are you do not agree but the Tsukamoto film deserves at least a fair chance. A superb third act which is the second film easily and with no blush hang around from the first film.

02 Symbol
Matsumoto is a funny guy, who was clear after watching Big Man Japan. With the symbol, it goes several steps beyond and a genuine masterpiece of plants. It operates a very simple concept (even original) to perfection and finishes off the coast with a complete final bang. It said that it was impossible to make the original films these days, but I think Matsumoto begs differ. Very funny, inventive and incredibly unique, symbol is a film that cannot be missed.

01 Enter void it.
This is a long wait for the latest film from Gaspar and when he finally arrived most theatres are needed to give us a good chance of viewed blocked. Enter the vacuum release calendar crappy was another sign that the film industry is not really interested in her biggest fans. Fortunately invalidate the seizure can be enjoyed in the cosy confines of your own living room. Close the curtains, turn to her and let yourself be swept away by the enlightened world Tokyo neon. A true cinema trip if I ever saw one and already one of my top 3 favorite films ever.
