First images of Juan Solanas' spill

Juan Solanas jumped in my radar a few years with its dazzling short film the man without a head, a Visual effort Jones-style built around romantic desires a man literally without a head. With this short film Solanas himself announced as something unique, a filmmaker who merges concept high science fiction with deeply human stories.

And then, for his first feature film he has something completely different.

But now he is back where it belongs with Upside Down, a high concept science fiction novel starring Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst.

Look to the sky and rubbing their eyes because you don't believe what you see: towns, forests and oceans with their own reverse gravity, only addictive away, yet completely inaccessible. Take a leap in this alternate reality, two worlds - above a below? face to another, and you'll land in the extraordinary upside down, new ground?breaking Juan Solanas, Director of the innovative Cannes film world and Cesar?prized short film the Man Without A head and heartbreaking Cannes 2005 film Nordeste.

Adam is a seemingly ordinary guys in a very extraordinary universe. He lived humbly to try to meet the ends, but the romantic on the memory of a young girl is maintained in another world, a rich world reversed with its own gravity, directly above, once mind holds but beyond... join a girl named Eve. Banter child becomes an impossible love. But when he catches a glimpse of the grown?up ensures TV, nothing will get to obtain the back... Not even the right or the science!

Yes, it is essentially a Romeo and Juliet story with separated lovers separated by entirely different worlds, one which hovers reversed over the other. This is a highly complex production - that a sum exorbitant funding agencies and forty nine different production list functionality involved on the IMDB - with the production designer and artistic director with credits on guards, Minority Report, Fight Club, Dark City, and the matrix. Raw images are coming online and you can find them in the gallery below.

First pictures of Michelle Yeoh in Luc Besson LADY

The Lady is not the kind of film that we just expect from Luc Besson. No, for his last effort producer first producer French action movies high-octane goes spectacular road. Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis stars he threw in The mother, a bio-pic of Aung San Suu Kyi.

The 1991 Nobel Prize for peace, Aung San Suu Kyi has spent fifteen years a twenty years under house arrest in Burma due to its peaceful demonstrations of Government policy. Besson film seems to be staying away from the whole of his life with the film, choosing instead to concentrate on the story of love between the imprisoned political leader and her husband (Thewlis), a British academic died a terminal illness while Aung was held in Burma.

The Guardian has posted just four first stills of the image, which is above.

2 Stunt Man in coma hangover induced Stunt Goes Wrong

Todd Phillips The Hangover was one of the pleasant surprises 2009 - it is a comedy that was actually funny, and while actually funny comedy has been rewarded by becoming a huge financial success - production suite proved rather rough.

On a PR front it there, course, the breakup of cameo Mel Gibson who has ended with members of the cast and crew simply refuse to work with human and rapid replacement of Gibson by Liam Neeson.

And now, at a level much more convenient and more importantly there are server suffered by stunt man Scott McLean while he was working on the film. While the details are simply out now the incident occurred on 17 December, when McLean was examined on the window of a moving truck when he was struck by a car in direction opposite. The car was planned part stunt, which had previously been rehearsed, thus appears to be a simple - even though the tragic - driver error.

McLean is currently in hospital in Bangkok, where it is kept in a medically induced coma. The simple fact that doctors felt the need to below reflects the severity of his injuries, regardless of the fact that they have kept him slots for well over a week now. Our best wishes to McLean and his family.

I Got A Fancy new business card.

New film by Todd Brown, December 16, 2010 3 H 09 FantasticCard.JPG I do not know if the power to Fantastic Fest provide some sort of official announcement of this or not, but I just received my new business and in my book that makes things all official maps.

What you see in this image - because it is on the back and I am far from being stupid enough to give you all the my phone - number is my new title. I am officially today the Director of international programs of the Fantastic Fest. Which means I should probably get organized and get busy on the grid official monitoring right about now...

THE book of ELI Review

The Hughes brothers fail too many films (it has already been 9 years since From Hell), but when they dive into a project the end result is often useful to continue. As evidenced by their latest film. The book of Eli was a superb action post-apocalyptic brazzell, borrowing handsomely from various other sources but to refine the mixture to something unique. This is Hollywood at its best.

There aren't too many Hollywood movies who dare to please their audience by betting on the atmosphere and style only. Fortunately the rules are made to break and the Hughes brothers take this concept very far beyond of local competition in their latest film. Original trailers and promotional material, it became clear that this would be something special, the complete film offers more of.

Reliable sources link the film for the games of fallout, style and setting. I've not played these games, so I can't really comment on that for me, feels more like a modernized Fist Of The North Star (without change) version. Ruins of motorcycle gangs, militias and a surprisingly mellow theme background contrast with the rest of the film. This time not environmental in nature, but targeted to religion.

The titular book is of course the bible, a book that has been banned after "the great war." Denzel Washington's character (Eli) is sent to deliver West, others are after his powers, it's for their quest for the souls who could give more power over their supporters. This leads to a confrontation fierce between Eli and gang city is aware of the powers of the book.

Frameworks of the first Visual excellence film is apparent. Wonderfully desaturees colors are used throughout, often accompanied by dark tones, and dark surroundings. The post-apocalyptic world is not a place pleasant to reside, that much is certain. Action sequences are impressive, with some very nice touches camera wise and some impressive parameters.

The soundtrack is also quite bold and striking. The Hughes brothers don't try to hide the music and even if not all work track as well as expected, at least the music gives the film some extra brightness and identity. It is pleasant to see Hollywood directors to take these bold choice for change.

The acting is pretty solid. Playing poise, individual hard-assed comes from rather naturally in Washington, the role of the leader of the city vilaines and evil is perfect for someone like Gary Oldman (think just Leon). Same Kunis has a role rather enjoyable to fill out here, so it is very good too.

Even if the subject of the film is rather religious, for me it was never off the coast of propaganda any. While the film certainly follows a pro-bible perspective, considers more as a story to tell, rather than a statement to make. If you have something against religious subjects is perhaps a bit of a barrier, but I couldn't be bothered by it (and I'm not religious in any). The end is rather mellow and predictable, but then the solid atmosphere, superb visuals and use the parameter was already convinced me that I was watching a good film. It is not really my type preferred late, but that can be expected from a film made in these film regions. One thing that annoy me was though shutdown Western-like a little film makes in the village. I preferred over a road construction, film rather than a progression of history influenced by the West.

That said, the book of Eli is certainly one of the best things I've seen from Hollywood this year. This is all style and atmosphere, beautifully executed and well acted. There are certainly parts that could have been handled better, but they never got the experience that the delivery of this film. Certainly recommended.

Is this SUPER exotic 8?

Real? Fake? You make the call...

A concept artwork appeared online that many believe can be a drawing of the exotic creature of JJ Abram's next collaboration with Steven Spielberg, Super 8.

It would, I suppose, although Abrams is an absolute master redirection when it comes to online marketing. The man likes his work in secret and teasing rather warm dishes served straight information, therefore, I would be very surprised if he would release something spectacular cloud this well in advance. Yet it is a little impressive Monster.

* UPDATE *.

Drew's Hitfix weighed the scenes, saying that he does not believe that it is the Super 8, which raises the question: if not Super 8, while it would be? A look more paramount forthcoming release yields slate the possibilities of science fiction three following two involve Abrams:

With Steven Sommers clash of worlds. Unlikely because scifi while not particularly exotic oriented.

JJ Abrams Star Trek 2. Trek has never been particular creature worn but Abrams threw a wholesale in the first, so who knows.

Following the Matt Reeves of Cloverfield. Production of Abrams, it seems more likely if it has not Super 8. I feels surprisingly difficult to find an image of the first Cloverfield creature to compare this but the aesthetic design feels very similar to me. Quite similar as this could easily be a stranger youngest and smallest of the same species, I think.

This four films are only opportunities in Slate by 2013, Paramount unless it is something more long-term development this beast is one of these four images. What do you think?

Oprah Breaks Hugh Jackman.

Not only his mind, Oprah broke Hugh Jackman physically.

Oprah Winfrey in Australia X Men star talk show record Hugh Jackman needed to compress a large entry in cable suspended above the crowd. What he did. But then he forgot to break and violently in the pole at the end of the cable, opening up a notch in her eyes and forcing Oprah to stop recording for ten minutes while he received medical treatment.

Why I write something happened on Oprah? I get to that.

Defamation after his face on a mast high above the ground Jackman returned to all and made his interview with Winfrey, freshly bandee and sporting a new black eye. And then it ended the show with a number of songs and dances.

And it is this point: Hugh Jackman and John Woo want to make a gangster music together. And Jackman just proved, once again, if anywhere, anywhere has a prayer to a blow of eye musical manly that. For the love of God, someone give them money to make this film. It is everything.

Cinemanila 2010: CHASSIS Review

Adolfo Alix, wire frame opens with Nora (Jodi STA. Maria), his daughter to a modest house ironing school uniform. The House, perhaps some broad square metres, includes a few belongings, some furniture, ironing, horse ornaments good markets, hung on the wall, a camera of which Alix becomes concentrated on because that it showcases the ideal House. Nora completes his fatigues and thanked the owner for his kindness. No, this is not Nora House. She lives elsewhere. Alix camera follows Nora it crosses a large cement gap that separates the House of his neighbor with the parking lot of the container huge trucks. Blocks a hammock where daughter Nora sleeps under a parked truck chassis. Nora husband sleeps on the cold cement. This is Nora home, or at least until readers off truck one of its many destinations. She turns her daughter, she bathes, assistance in his uniform and finally it sends to the school. It seems that the events of the morning were refined in the routine. Shockingly, normality has inevitably crept in what is clearly a situation which cannot be described as unjust and absurd. With his skilfully assembled visual cues, chassis immediately notice the seriousness of his oppressive environment forces. Alix separates the shreds houses in shanty towns, known by dozens of films which are located in the it and further and deeper slides in shortages, focusing primarily on individuals who have made houses and trying to educate the families of truck parked. Alix overemphasizes the hardness of his chosen setting, view its parameter in monochrome, effectively remove any semblance of colour batch sorry its characters and the location than where they live. The images that alix created with the help of Gabriel Bagnas, Director of photography are surprisingly austere, more stylized and carefully framed portraits of extreme poverty in the midst of this supposedly represents an economy of lively commerce than anything else. Chassis, if known only as a series of images in motion, feels like an album of black and white Manila postcards in his deplorable disadvantaged and most desperate. Alix shows often face of Nora, suspiciously calm despite its troubling circumstances, close-up. It is as if the commands Nora irony even as it does in its environment. After all, the two subjects, Nora and Manila, represented here by its port area, are beautiful even tarnish. Frequent large Alix invites viewers to observe Nora to become intimate with it and to understand the absence of intense emotion in her face that she goes about her daily routine that is rampant with oppression, men who pay a derisory sum for a quickie from her husband who cannot provide for her and her shelter decent girl and society that promotes its disastrous situation. She has been calloused to the point to be private to really feel. It expresses only the emotions authentic, joy, sadness and later in anger, with events concerning its daughter.Alix operates two medium and topic, creating a movie that instantly extracted you by the strength of its premises and the presence of Santa Maria. However, the film attempts to go beyond compliance with the human condition serious participant more enveloping these observations in a history that attempts to push the speech of the gender equality. Alix mainly painted a dark community where the dominant male is unable to provide, by forcing stronger women become prostitutes herself for mere survival. Questionable conclusion of the film depicts the revolt Nora towards his gravely unjust situation closer the film more close to being too didactic otherwise entirely academic, unworthy ultimately emotions already invested on the fate of the protagonist female film. Thus, chassis persisted as a powerful cinema verite element until it was drastic that turning taken wrong final minute inexplicable transmitting an insignificant return shock and passed on the State of the Patriarchate in the poorest areas of the Philippines.(Cross-published in the teachings of the school of inattention.)

SyFy: "Eureka" and "Warehouse 13" - Christmas episodes!

by Andrew Mack, 5 December 2010 18 H 38 SyFy-Christmas.jpg for the week of Christmas two SyFy emissions success network, Eureka and 13 Warehouse, each get their own Christmas episodes this Tuesday evening. Eurek one is in the midst of a medium break season and WH13 prepares for a third season so it is nice to have these two shows return even though it is an episode. Eureka is probably his best season yet and WH13 seems to have found a firm established in the network. Both science fiction comedy "here we go again" have discovered that scores winning formula and escaped that flop of the first year of University who claims usually one or more of the series debut of the network each year. Speaking of which, I wonder if WH13 guest star Christmas wish Paul Blackthorne was that it was his show SyFy, The Dresden Files, which was still here in Toronto and obtained his own special Christmas?
As Global Dynamics celebrates the season with his company holiday party, Member of the staff of Mr. Noah Drummer [guest star Chris Parnell] almost takes flight with volatile experience. Rooms get decked seriously when unstable hydrogen Crystal Dr. Drummer begins to grow at a frightening pace. Carter and Henry attempt to deal with the potentially explosive Crystal, but before long the real scope of the problem is revealed, and need more tinsel and singers to save Christmas by Eureka. As warehouse team prepares to celebrate the holiday season in snowy Pete, South Dakota and Myka are called upon to hunt down a malicious Santa. Meanwhile, in time for Hanukkah, Artie and separated father, Isadore Weisfelt [guest star Judd Hirsch] together after 30 years. Paul Blackthorne also guest stars as a tormented work-a-holic who became terrorized by a strange series of armed robberies committed by a thief dressed up as "jolly old St. Nick".?
When I start to worry Eureka authors were running out of time travel story arc materials injected new life into the series. Finally, there is something to really at stake for characters in the show database. And while we still see if they continue to in the second half of the fourth round they take a break from that for the Christmas episode. It might be assumed almost everything is now fine as Carter sits with some of the younger inhabitants of this town called Eureka and tells a story of a Christmas past with everyone in the same role that we have left at the end of the first half of the current season. Bah humbug! I'm nitpicking of course. Nitpicking my red shirt. This episode, "O ' Little Town", is full of Christmas and good mood; even if the cheese factor passes a bit this time. WH13 is another good season which mixture of humour and rewrite the history of its own to create artifacts to create world problems. I liked the first two seasons of WH13. And then that will be ready for an eligible amount of sappiness and the spirit of Christmas in this episode, "Secret Santa" permeate as well, but it is still places for a joke in Nutcracker.?If Yes, with episodes of holiday it will always be themes of goodwill to all men, Christmas, spend time with those you love, and there is no shortage of that in each episode. Therefore, if you need a little help to enter the spirit of Christmas plunk yourself down in front of the TV this Tuesday evening with your family and spend time at Eureka and 13 of the warehouse. They will get you in the spirit of Christmas in time so that other seminal show of science fiction has its annual Christmas episode [ducks and skins].? var part; var href = $('img[id=main-asset]') .attr ('src'); part = href. $('.asset-corps_img[src='+part+']') .css ('display', 'none'); $('.asset_plus_img[src='+part+']') .css ('display', 'none'). part = part.replace('twitchfilm.com','twitchfilm.net'); $('.asset-corps_img[src='+part+']') .css ('display', 'none'); $('.asset_plus_img[src='+part+']') .css ('display', 'none'). part = /(\/[^\/]+)\.(\w+)$/.exec(href); If (party) {part = part [1] + "-thumb-"; $('_img[src*='+part+']') .css ('display', 'none') .asset-body; $('.asset_plus_img[src*='+part+']') .css ('display', 'none');} part = part.replace('twitchfilm.com','twitchfilm.net'); If (party) {part = part [1] + "-thumb-"; $('_img[src*='+part+']') .css ('display', 'none') .asset-body; $('.asset_plus_img[src*='+part+']') .css ('display', 'none');}

A Christmas CAROL on BLURAY

A Christmas CAROL on Bluray

Robert Zemekis gave the world a wealth of great cinema. Back to the future, which defined by Roger Rabbit, just to name a couple. I include The Polar Express these films based on my own children response to it. Folks main complaints in this regard have seemed strange to me. I find it creepy or importance and I love the vision that it offers simple belief precisely because the idea of belief around centres things we believe every step in the real world of Santa Claus, but absolute what reality symbolizes the Christmas.

A Christmas Carol is much more stylized, clearly a move by Zemekis push technology to see how real it would make CGI characters look, but it seems wonderful. The main problem with the film is Zemekis is not sure what to make his version of the particular history beyond transformed into a kind of show. Whereas the Polar Express offers a moving portrait of hanging in the belief that a Christmas Carol loses sight of it main theme - the awakening of belief. It is lots of fun, and Jim Carrey is a dynamic voice over artist. Tons of extras are available here.

It should be noted that the process 3D TV is always lovely entry level, although it seems fantastic here. The problem is not the disk (although the precious contained little is available), but rather that the technology is still evolving. This is the case than having money to burn....

It will serve as "external Creative Director" on a trilogy of planned under the crazy of THQ games title, developer. I am not quite sure that this means could be a role from consultant glorified, but also enthusiastic man - players - del Toro is, I could imagine him be sufficiently involved in terms of basic history and design... Despite its jam already packed schedule.? In any case trailer teaser for the first game, which is expected sometime in 2013, has certainly del Toro fantasy dark oozing vibe of short duration. Video Home Invasion: Third introduction window films

The first two labels I have profiled for Twitch have been mainly focused on bringing older or forgotten films to home video, so I thought it was time to check up on a label whose focus is on contemporary cinema, and I can hardly think of a better example than Third Window Films.? With our exclusive first look at Third Window's acquisition of Sion Sono's Cold Fish, a film that has just started making the festival rounds a couple of months ago, you can tell that they have their finger on the pulse of Asian cinema and they strive to stay ahead of the curve and we get the benefit of that foresight.

Third Window Films focuses on contemporary films from the Far East, so far that means Hong Kong, Korea, and especially Japan.? They began with several Korean box office and art-house favorites like Kick The Moon, Friend, Peppermint Candy, and Guns and Talks; took a detour to Hong Kong to release Johnnie To's fantastic PTU starring Suet Lam to cinemas and home video, and they currently have found a tight focus on Japanese films of all kinds.? I think it is their collection of Japanese films that most interests me.? Third Window's Adam Torel has told me that he tries to think outside the established views of what east Asian films should look like.? He fears that too much is focused on the J-Horror scene and other such extreme cinema and that these films, while flashy, are overpowering other, more interesting and even entertaining, films that really deserve a shot at being seen.? I tend to agree.

I'm not going to go into too much detail on their individual releases in this column, I'll save that for the follow-ups, but I'm very excited to explore Third Window's growing and finely curated catalog of releases.? I drew up a few simple questions for Adam, and he graciously gave me some very candid and insightful answers.? I'm no interviewer, and as such I'm glad he did such a great job answering.? Here is a little bit of what he told me, I'll try to spread this out, because there is a lot of good information to share:

Who are you, what is your background?

Adam Torel, English born, raised and currently residing, but lived in the States from the age of 10-21 (approx). Went to University in Massachusetts for A.A. in Liberal Arts then did B.A. in Film Theory at both a university in Florida and also one in London. Learnt all I know about film working for Video Renaissance in Florida for 3-4 years, one of the biggest video stores in the world with over 35,000 titles and the biggest selection of out of print titles you'll ever see in one place.
When/why did you start the label?
August 2005 after leaving Tartan Films where I worked for a year. The reason I started it was because of how disillusioned I was with how Tartan Films and other UK distribution labels were pigeon-holing Asian cinema into the 'Extreme' category. I wanted to show that there was so much coming out of Asia other than long-haired ghost films and over-the-top violent films. I also feel that it is the job of a distributor to get films out there which wouldn't be seen otherwise. What's the point in 5 companies all trying to outbid each other for the next big budget genre title? If 5 companies are after it then it'll get seen anyways. Why all bid over the same title when there are hundreds of great films out each year from Asia that nobody is releasing?? If there is no market, then create one. It's all about taking risks and believing in your product with a long-term goal in mind.
How many people work at Third Window?? Is there have a full time staff or is this something that people do in their spare time?? Is Third Window your full time job?
Third Window is mainly myself and it's my full-time job, though I'm also a record collector and soul DJ so make money from that and selling records which goes into picking up new titles. I handle all acquisitions, theatrical booking, and some press, but I work with a sales company called Fusion Media who also handle all sales for Artificial Eye, Network, Terracotta, Yume, HB and other similar sized foreign film distributors. As they handle so many similar companies it's easy for our titles to get lumped in with bigger titles for retail campaigns. They're on a commission basis so it's quite a good deal. In regards to press and PR, I handle for straight to DVD releases, but the bigger titles are handled by a larger PR company called The Associates where Paul Smith, who was the head of press at Tartan Films for many years, looks after our titles.
What do you look for in a film for Third Window?
I like films which are unique and stick out. As mentioned before, I started the label because so many companies were releasing so many films which you could barely tell apart. Over-saturation of these low-quality, unoriginal 'by-the-numbers' products is what killed the market here a few years after Tartan built up such a great market with a selection of quality titles. A market which they, themselves, helped destroy. If you look at our releases, we probably have one of the widest variety of genres and titles of any Asian-related distribution label in the world. From the tour de force acting powerhouse titles like 'Oasis' to candy-coloured looks at odd sub-cultures in 'Kamikaze Girls' to fierce political satires such as 'The President's Last Bang', strange quirky comedies like 'Turtles are Surprisingly Fast Swimmers', 4 hour long epics like 'Love Exposure' and small indies like 'Kakera: A Piece of Our Life'. We've even got the genre titles like Johnnie To's wonderful police procedural 'PTU' and KT Kwak's box office record breaking 'Friend'. As long as it's good and stands out from the rest, then we want to get it out there.
Where do you find these films?? Do you make deals at film festivals and such?? Do you ever get the rights for films before you see them based on a relationship with the filmmaker/production company?
Most films I find at either festivals or markets, but I also receive many screeners each week from companies trying to sell their latest titles. I prefer to scout smaller, more niche film festivals such as Nippon Connection and Udine where I can find more unknown titles which wouldn't make it into the major festivals or be heavily promoted by sales agents. These titles, such as 'Fine, Totally Fine', 'Fish Story', etc, can be picked up cheaper as there isn't as much expectation for a sale. I also get a lot of information from other festivals programmers and friends like Jasper Sharp and Chris Magee who tell me of some smaller titles which might have gone under my radar. I found out about 'Confessions of a Dog' from them. The bigger films like 'Confessions' and 'Memories of Matsuko' are usually done at bigger markets like Cannes where they are usually first screened. I never buy a title before its made or based on a trailer. That is the reason why I had enough with Tartan Films who were doing as such. Even if it's a director I admire or have worked with in the past, you never know what their next title could be, so better wait till its done, though with most of the directors I've worked with such as Tetsuya Nakashima, Miki Satoshi, Sion Sono, etc, I am usually the first point of call from the sales companies to give me first refusal on their latest works.
What do you hope to accomplish with your releases?
To educate and create a market for these titles. I always get in arguments with cinema programmers and the such who always give the same response: "we won't handle foreign films because the big ones will always make more money". Maybe in the short term this is true, but I refuse to believe that all cinema-goers are that ignorant and only want to watch Hollywood 'entertainment'. If cinemas only programmed foreign films then people would have to watch them and then grow to appreciate and like them. I believe that the foreign film market is only small because nobody will take a chance and give the audience more of a chance. I hope that slowly, through Third Window's releases, we can create a larger audience who will appreciate all what is out there in the East.
I have more of this interview on tap for later as we reach into different parts of Third Window's collection.? There are a ton of really great titles to look at, I've seen a handful of them, but I'm going to be watching a lot more in the coming weeks, so look forward to more information regarding what you can expect from Third Window as time goes on.? In addition to more behind-the-scenes stuff, Adam has assured me that Twitch readers can look forward to some pretty cool giveaways and future releases, so look forward to that!

Visit twitch set of Vincenzo Natali produced thriller 388 ARLETTA AVE

If I did I had not known exactly where writer-director Randall Cole has been shooting his new thriller I would have missed it. Otherwise, production assistants keep watch for traffic on street corners and stars Nick Stahl, walking in the street, as I approached I would have never known that it is. The only outward sign something was off the house number was incorrect when compared to the rest of the street.

It is rather just as movie autour unlawful surveillance must keep a low profile. Anyone who has never been set before can tell you that they are usually big, bulky, location shooting announcing himself of endless rows of large white trucks, cable equipment in all road and hundreds of towers oranges running until the curbs. There is nothing of all this here, the production now as low a profile as an invisible observer of the Stahl.

Originating Toronto Copperheart Entertainment of Steve Hoban (Ginger Snaps, splice) the film is first foray splice Director Vincenzo Natali in role as a producer, with Natali much playing the same role here with director Randall Cole as Guillermo Del Toro made for him in the effort to obtain one splice made. Although his third feature is first step Cole on the territory of suspense and Natali was through the development process in order to provide advice giving potential investors a familiar name of the creative team.

Although anyone tell what that Cole is to exactly - exactly draw is a closely guarded secret - it is clear that it aims to grow such footage found in a new direction. The film strips most far awareness self-esteem typically mark this style of cinema, which plays rather both as film cold clinical monitoring. The rooms of the House of the Stahl are rigged with five cameras digital small both - cameras characters aren't aware of - then sequences outside the House is shot distance by an observer unseen, armed with a digital SLR. What is all about? And what will be the Stahl character when he realizes he is respected? Nobody will say anything other than referring to the script as the twisty kind of thriller that Hitchcock would have been proud of. Cole is simply influence: "Hitchcock definitely would was interested in how perverse come with tiny cameras soon."

I had the chance to sit down with Cole and Stahl while on the set and mopped Natali by telephone the next day. Expect these interviews and 388 Arletta Ave, soon.

More, this is England Coming Soon!

In a room simply fantastic news, Channel 4 British has officially in England is that ' 90 greenlit Shane Meadows. For non-initiated, the original is in England is without doubt masterpiece meadows, a set of deeply autobiographical against the backdrop of fighting in the Islands Falkland and the rise of the United Kingdom skinhead movement work. It is film introduced the young Thomas Turgoose in the world and also the first time that I realized what a fucking great actor Stephen Graham may be when considering equipment with a bit of meat to it.

Original theatrical film was followed earlier this year with This is England ' 86, who picked up the life of the original characters three years after the events of the first film, school children, finishing four episodes miniseries marry and attempts to draw a path in life. Once again, this is brilliant.

And now word that Meadows continue the story, this time, picking up the thread in 1990, with the rise of rave culture and fervour surrounding the World Cup.

Only possible drawback to this is that oversee this last foray in the television can in addition planned late horror feature Beware the devil meadows long but at this stage, I am more that happy to go anywhere Meadows deals to me.

Tron: Legacy Review

I was never a big fan of Tron, only seen a few times really, and was the last time there was quite a while. That is to say that I am not immersed in this Mythology or care about it, no more than anything else. For me, this is a movie at the cheese with a strange aspect, but an interesting concept and some revolutionary FX work that time. But previews of Tron Legacy had me pumped with its amazing visuals and stellar looking through special effects, the thing was 3D so that he promised a good time in the theatre. It is, so, until a point. The film opens a few years after Kevin Flynn discovered that his computer program is alive and can freely enter into his world and build by making him a millionaire multi computer programmer. But one day he enters the world and did not leave behind that shoot up a young rebellious son return interested in extreme sports and motorcycles, because it is so angry his dad him that you see on the left. But as a shareholder of his fathers company, time and money to sulk and be as extreme as it wants to be just practical thereafter.?After a long time her father partner receives a message on his pager (who the hell still uses a pager?) young Sam Flynn goes to his father's old arcade and is quickly zap the grid when it starts the old world ordinateur.le grid is a new rave paradise and seems surprising indeed but it was kind of a parallel universe where programs with personalities mingled and danced as in the real world, but with a fresher look and Daft Punk DJing at the local club. Yes, the programs go to clubs and restaurants. Sam is immediately pushed in this fascist world where vols, a copy of the computer from Kevin Flynn rebelled against his creator and imprisoned him in a chic appearance research centre of the grid, villa Supreme rules and provides for a regime of evil to take his and our world. With the help of a program by Kevin Flynn, Sam must overcome vol. and his minions striped red until it gets a world perfect without flaws.?The story behind Tron: Legacy is as simple as can be obtained and plays exactly as I thought it would be. Other favorite genre fan films pieces are lifted for good measure, the Messianic matrix plot and especially star wars. It is the world as Director Joseph Kosinski who react more. Why are there rain in the grid? Why some programs have wacky personalities like Zuse Michael Sheen while others are cold and robotics? There is even a hobo program sitting in an alley of digital alcohol. I guess that if this world would be like a computer it would not much of a story and it all would be rather bland on all the but these things are never explained, as Rocky and rough terrain surrounding the grid, where lives Kevin Flynn. Why such a zone would exist for a computer? And it is also a good thing that grew up Sam Flynn sports extreme taste and motorcycles, instead of a fuselage computer soft nerd would likely grow as in the real world. I'm sure "Star Wars Kid" vs. Tron was not exciting enough, but it would be quite funny. It aspect of the film is the winner, with the sound design and audio track by Daft Punk fantasy. It is wet dream of a designer to immerse in a world like this and I want each piece of equipment shown in the film. Item 3D works well, but was not used as much as I thought it would be but in scenes of action, the struggle of the ring of light, he really shone. I was afraid that young looking Jeff Bridges established for film work, especially uncertain lip movements illustrated in the trailer, but most as it is successful. I just really that I didn't know that it was because whenever he was on the screen I was looking for some imperfections in the exercise of CG computer generated. I am pleased to say that they were rare.?Actual performance is fine, although Garrett Hedlunds reminded me of performance of Hayden Christensen in Episode 3 and sometimes appears. Young activists of zealous with Daddy issues are all angry about the world without reason apparent. Jeff Bridges is good, its hippies, zen personality clashes with the world of software he created. Its performance was the only one with a hint of thrown comedy if you can't find Michael Sheen funny and I did not, I just found bizarre, on top and place. The real stars of this movie are designers, Visual and sound, and that is really what is happening to attract people to the theatre. History is safe and all the right of hits bat for a history snapshot torn but those looking for something deeper than fancy visual effects and a score of great need to examine elsewhere. But you bet your ass that I will pick this up when it hits Blu Ray because I am certain that it will seek the aces.

Bellflower.JPGMeet the Coatwolf manufacturers of Sundance selected feature Bellflower, supporters of camera equipment built custom, men with a predilection for the fire. Here is a summary of their film:

SyFy's franchise woes continue - cancels Stargate Universe

TV by Andrew Mack, 16 December 2010 8 H 54 Stargate-Universe-cast.jpg having already cancelled the dull as dirt Caprica SyFy a rest themselves and cancelled the third incantation of the Stargate shows Stargate Universe. Performers and fans issuing discovered today that they have a third season to return. Some of the cast members discovered in the explosion of new Twitterverse long until their own representatives could communicate with them.?

It makes me sad. Very sad indeed. I gravitate toward a Stargate show so far and I was rather liked the darkest of all three. But for a fan base that already estimated buffeted by the evolution of Stargate Atlantis when fan favorite Dr. Carson Beckett was written the show [seriously, how fans find my e-mail address when that happened], it is even more difficult to accept this broodier series. Comparison of ratings between Atlantis and universe has shown a decline in the audience. Unfortunately, business is business and SyFy looks to the future series as being human [I got a doozy press kit to share with you after the holiday] film ambiance BSG blood & chrome to replace these shows had lost. LIFF 2010: FACE to the wall (GESICHT ZUR WAND) review

What you expect to find in a historical documentary? History, surely? Face The Wall of Stephan Weinert is a recording of a group of persons chosen from among the unlucky enough to be caught and jailed thousands for attempting to escape from the front Germany 1989. It is slaughtered, simple, fast, without any unnecessary frills and showcases some eloquent testimonies, thought, and sometimes very moving.

But there is an almost complete absence of what either to establish the context something feels like by chance as an error. Even if you know what was the Berlin wall and what it meant, Face The Wall appears to be 90 minutes of heads talking with behavior - despite their psychic wounds obvious - near alarming swings the apparent naivety.

Weinert subjects were all perfectly normal people at that time - farmers, teachers, students and others - even if their experiences at the hands of the GDR state machines mean that they are clearly is more completely the same. Both are unable to hold a job, still a therapy and advice with a shockingly confessing to admit that he cannot stay in enclosed spaces for shorter periods of time.

They seem to be part infantryman, part haunted by the survivor guilt, struggling to cope with the trauma that concept a series of events did not leave visible scars others may relate to the. The teacher discusses his time in prison, where someone has broken the rules and made screws evil appear finally beaten and raped women by sentenced to life imprisonment in League with the Stasi. Young gay man (while it is not stereotypical remotely, experiences are clearly related to their sexuality) recalled hearing Cree as other convicts slowly went mad constant sleep.

They know that they will never be all rights and that those things which can theoretically be returned are probably in a certain sense, will be a next time. Weinert follows the farmer (who had seized assets) in the fields that it used at work, watching the closing in the farm buildings, empty shells especially now.

It is obvious that nobody could possibly welcome these emotions - many of their monologues camera people carry a thread of bitterness to what looks like shares equal treason (none were particularly radical or overtly politicised) and bureaucratic insanity. Many describe the constant need for self-censor, to avoid discussing even something as innocuous as a television through the wall, where someone could take as a responsible political declaration.

The thing is all these stories are very intimate, perhaps too so. Some of them give a real world beyond the daily life of the interviewees or provide any justification for why they would think as banal and island. There are records of how their growing frustration leads to flee, but few details concrete beyond of what each of them think mentioning needs. Sometimes it makes the search as if their detention has come out of the next day.

Of course, it is difficult to establish how much of their point of view to their subsequent years of freedom. In both cases, their disbelief brings to mind the stereotype of the tourist prisoner taken by evil aliens who shouts "and I am an American citizen!", as someone who was waving a crucifix. Not experienced as they have clearly, it is extremely difficult to judge, but it is impossible to completely get rid of the idea that asking how can this happen when you live in a repressive Communist regime leaves you look like an innocent abroad. Weinert proposes nothing of their situation at the time to mitigate this, simply allow the camera to keep rolling.

Culminating point of this is accompanied by the revelation, the young gay man not only leva records held the Stasi on him, he even met one of the guards who oversaw his imprisonment and demanded an apology. No surprise that he did not get one. This is an excerpt just beautifully stimulated sequences is fascinating and confusing obtuse. The knee-jerk reaction that invites his speech is to ask why on Earth he expected his interrogator - report and Weinert simply gives the spectator something with which set up a response, the simple human thing or the outcome of his trauma or background or anything else.

It bears restating that The Wall is a German production, probably made first for a German audience. Set a value in that filmed Weinert - one interviewee breaks down before the camera, recalling a time where he has finally been Germany West and anyone can stay dry-printaniere at this point should be made of Peter. But the quote from Hegel closes the film ("what experience and history has taught us is that the people and Governments have never learned something of the history" "") suggests an attempt to look at the bigger picture. Seen in this light, Face The Wall could not help but emerged as something of a failure and is very difficult to recommend.

(Face the wall was screened in the 24th Festival Leeds film).

First image of Ciaran Foy la Citadelle

aneurin (tommy).jpgDirector Ciaran Foy has first of all to my attention several years with his short film The Faeries of Blackheath Woods, a slap marked in the face, executed with obvious technical skills and a solid sense of style. I've programmed faeries - you see embedded slot - a few different festivals this year and filed Foy far as Director to keep an eye on.

In addition, he is back now and in the production on its first currently feature, the Citadel.

Using its own experience of having been victim of an unprovoked attack on urban and a sense of agoraphobia introduced as a fuel, the Foy film is the story of Tommy, a young man trapped in a real estate board term by youth hooded armed with an unknown substance syringes.? How the IFTN described as follows:

"Citadel" sees packs of twisted wild children roaming the dark cityscape Edenstown, estate of the Council of hell. Concealed under the top cap, they attacked innocent adults with septic syringes to harvest their blood and remove small children swell their ranks. Abandoned by the police, the small community that remains is hampered by brutal and rampant gang that few really understand. Its appearance during the night, they come to anyone who showing fear - in fact, they can see and feel that it.

Walking DEAD producer denies any mass shooting

TV by Todd Brown, December 5, 2010 11 H 37 Thumbnail image for walkingdead-cast-amc.jpg last week date limit reported that Frank Darabont had fired the whole personal writing hit shows The Walking Dead and planned to give up a staff of editorial entirely for the season two, hiring freelancers when external assistance was required. Step so, said series producer Gale Anne Hurd, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

According to the Hurd head writer, Charles Eglee is out of his own volition to pursue its own projects. It also stated that various other writers have they pitch that take priority projects should they be picked up for drivers or series. But it is standard behavior in the world of television. Who does not wish to have their own show on the air rather than to be a gun on someone else? Darabont fired nie hard lot idea.

Date limit is normally quite reliable, but it would also be the first time that someone had planted a story he trying to make someone look bad. So judge for yourself. Deadline have the right, in which case Hurd performs work spin now? Or was it a spread widely error?

Andy Serkis and Thomas Sangster Star in the death of a superhero

DeathOfASuperhero.jpgA fascinating to here from Ian FitzGibbon - Director of A Film With Me In It and Perrier.

Andy Serkis and Thomas Sangster - for my money, one of the best players of his generation - star in the death of a hero, an adaptation of the novel by Anthony McCarten functionality.

With filming now wrapped in Ireland image star Sangster as Donald Delpe, child and adolescent who - as most teenagers - child really wants established. This somewhat complicated is the fact that Donald is terminally ill and retreating into a world of fantasy as a means to cope. Here is how the image is described by the Irish Film And Television Network:

"Heroes" is based on the novel by Anthony McCarten, "Death of a hero" centers around Donald Clarke, a terminally ill boy sucking sex and adventure, but his time is limited and it is never even had a girlfriend. As a form of escapism, Donald retreats from the harsh reality of the lives of his adventures illustrated comic strip. These stories see the indestructible Miraculousman fight a battle against his arch nemesis, the scholar fool, called the glove endless.

After seeing several psychologists reluctantly Donald meets retractable number six, Dr. Adrian King, 'Dr death' as he calls it. After a beginning of scrapie, they come to a mutual understanding and unexpectedly eventually help each other. Then a new girl in school, Shelly, arrived at the scene, she is a daughter to school, it is cool and different from other girls. Donald love really sound and life certainly seems brighter with it around...

With a Director like FitzGibbon manipulation like this with a cast anchored by Serkis and Sangster I expect great things.

It is literally everything is known about the project at this stage, just because they want to do something and are looking for a person to pay, but still... this particular partnership produced some work ahead for decades more strange, intriguing United States and I want more. Jean Claude Van Damme with Russian Action Comedy From The Makers Of HITLER KAPUT

Prepare yourself. The muscles from Brussels is about to get very strange, indeed.

Jean Claude Van Damme was thrown in the Russian action comedy ???????? ?????? ?????????, a case of slapstick 3D set during the Napoleonic, wars by the creators of Hitler Kaput.

Known variously as Napoleon Kaput, Look For The Woman or Rzhevskiy vs Napoleon, it would seem that Van Damme will play a sort of French soldier as Napoleon himself was played by Vladimir Zelensky.

Although production is underway there is not yet stills or available even though I've integrated a Russian MTV clip movie trailer announcing casting below, with a Hitler Kaput trailer so you can get a handle on what to expect. think Zucker Brothers style gaff, essentially.

LIFF 2010: Add you review (draw yourself)

If you want to look good Draw you Gilles Porte simply see children because gosh-darned cute, it is perfect. There are many that y. But it is also more than enough in-depth raising charming artistic experience on a piece of wonderfully reflection of social comment if you want that as well.

It is not perfect. some irregular publishing, particularly in the introduction and aesthetic choices questionable ruin printing across a little, but otherwise it was a fantastic show polished, witty and comforting.

The crew ran the same experience repeatedly throughout the world. they receive somewhere filming, implemented a large transparent surface, assemble a group of children - several generally quite young, not yet able to read or to write - and deliver dry markers with whom... Well, you get the idea.

Draw yourself is reconstructed together this film with various sequences that establishing the filmmakers travel the globe. Because they are facilitators in the trade, they also take several drawings of children and turn them into brief excerpts from CG, mainly with their simple sketches from life.

The paper is fairly well. There is no narration, and none of the children are subtitled, which initially causes a feeling of disorientation. Draw yourself permanently takes a little time to find his feet: opening is too dependent on of still frames and landing sites who feels more as an excuse to get as many children before the camera as possible (more trailer do not seem to make the final cut, for example).

But once it installs in a structural progress more recognizable quickly improve things. Most time running is jumping out of a place, but there is a sequence range showing a large number of children that they psyche themselves up is an excellent way to lead the audience in the main body of the film. It does no as of the end just a point in which gate seems to decide that he had had enough and roll the credits (a long sequence explaining where all children come features), but less than 80 minutes he begins to skinning.

This is the case, LUA-darned cute, then? The Director and his crew are of course fully aware, many people will simply observe see children doing fun things, and they do so largely a wonderful work provide. Their young subjects are handled as a whole, with tact, sensitivity and especially very gentle humour. Has a specific meaning, filmmakers have been laughing, but never wanted to sponsor or ridiculing children and their efforts.

Moments are played for emotional effect more evident as the boy who breaks out in tears frustrated because he can get his drawing enough of how he wants to - but the comedy is usually much more playful, even elegant. Musicians improvise the grunt of a little girl lost in thoughts, candle smoothing return an errant Wick hair as she tries to decide what to do (fluid, jazzy soundtrack is exceptional stuff). Some of the best comic moments are perfectly naturally when filmmakers simple some children: draw two boys, but one of them ends up doing all the work, the other research with deadly serious expression, offering all if often comments.

But draw yourself certainly much deeper than that. Anyone who has ever created something recognize something of themselves. frustration of emotions, even panic the possibilities of a blank page. See children help each other is truly uplifting and anyone who has nothing to do with actually child drawing or assess their work teaching find ventilation that calls that provides ample material for reflection. Yet once again, there is no narration that draw yourself does ask open questions, but comprehensive approach filmmakers seems designed to collect their for anyone who wants to apply.

Despite the structural problems, it is also a superb piece of cinema, a keen eye for different places displaying the visit crew. On the one hand the filmmakers created some animated sequences themselves, which resemble an another faux-pas perceptible. They do not have half the power without the unifying theme of illustration for children. Other Backwards drawings of children are used to introduce the judgment following along the way and one or two of these transitions are inventive jaw type of Visual trickery that begs to be rewound and studied at length.

Ultimately, draw yourself is much more than entertaining diversion, it seems all first. Anyone who wants to Netoperator_wibby and aah can simply enjoy the sight of children who play but beyond great production values, there are more enough space to mull on deep - without ever ruin General floating air celebrate the creative process implications. One of the highlights of the year, great documentary little Gilles Porte comes hugely recommended.

(Draw yourself was screened in the 24th Festival film of Leeds)
