The 1991 Nobel Prize for peace, Aung San Suu Kyi has spent fifteen years a twenty years under house arrest in Burma due to its peaceful demonstrations of Government policy. Besson film seems to be staying away from the whole of his life with the film, choosing instead to concentrate on the story of love between the imprisoned political leader and her husband (Thewlis), a British academic died a terminal illness while Aung was held in Burma.
