Kid en ballon d'Or - Gregory Foreman "London Boulevard" is like a fantasy, retro style that someone accidentally broke and tried to go back with only a vague idea of clockwork .the result pocket watch is a thriller superficially beautiful crime that check, well received a nice face towering (Star Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley, as well as several old Brit) and some intelligent by William Monahan (scribe "the infiltrated"), to make its mark scripts debut here. Opening to the United Kingdom "Boulevard" can have a rocky Rod advance it before its necessary release in 2011 new distrib FilmDistrict.

With an opening credits editing where protag Mitchell (Colin Farrell) is released from London's Pentonville Prison, helmer Monahan announced immediately retro intentions by temporarily letterboxing framework (the rest of the peak is in 16: 9) to create an atmosphere of the 1960s that vibrates "Heart full of soul" battery out of the band sonore.En effect, choice of sources not music throughout, which includes rarities garage-rock and an original score ascending joined by Sergio Pizzorno, strain to evoke a replay of London which is reflected in references to the peaks of vintage, Brit atmosphere including "performance" (1970) and "" Get Carter"(1971)

But as the title indicates, the largest cinema here is "Sunset Blvd.," given that shortly after his release, Mitchell lands a job as a man to do alone, famous mega movie star Charlotte (Keira Knightley). While the novel by Ken Bruen source went up to make the film star a sexagenarian Mitchell beds, the film has rather loose retracted the may-December romance (taking into account the respective ages Farrell and the Knightley, it is more like March-May).

Having suffered a sort of mental breakdown, Charlotte is perforated in his mansion in Holland Park with only his friend/Wizard/changing-en Jordan (David Thewlis, this ladle) for the company, until what Mitchell arrived at the scene to help repel the ubiquitous paparazzi outside hoard doors. The "Performance" echoes reside in contrast here between his Bohemian lifestyle rich and underworld background of the Mitchell.

But this is only a single strand of the crowded script.Mitchell actually spends much more time on screen with its one-time partner - le-crime Billy (Ben Chaplin), who works for the shark glove (Ray Winstone).Mitchell ready to Billy muscle required when collecting payments, but retains protest that he wants to go straight and attempts to repel the efforts of the glove to bring into the fold of gangster.Even more than subplots, Mitchell is also out for revenge against the thugs (Jamie Blackley and Gregory Foreman) who killed his friend homeless Joe (Alan Williams) and worry about its bipolar floozy sister, Briony (Anna Friel), a character clearly condemned from the outset.

Dody Dorn and Robb Sullivan editing simply cannot not opposite to this several strands and "London Boulevard" more grows increasingly unstable that it toggles back and forth, making it difficult to work with the where, how much time has elapsed or just what was going on.Similarly, the mash-up of styles - noirish time, coyly romantic next and then verging on the comedy via a little manic share - never associates. We feel that Monahan wants to achieve something sui generis, but his stand just is not up to the same level of competency among young directors, that he has worked as a writer, as Martin Scorsese, and Ridley Scott.

But the peak is never boring, and black-supported dialogue is often delicious (explaining that Charlotte gave acting that offered only the roles of the victim, Jordan remarks that, "if it was not for Monica Bellucci, she would be women more raped in European cinema").

Thesps reveal his true relish for their equipment, even if the characters are not sufficiently developed to convince them that they are really as smart as they.Rep Farrell and Knightley particularly weak links in this regard; It is especially taciturn and hollow, while wheels a whole series of tics that sum.At least Chaplin and Friel, that there are hardware years leading role but is never enough, maintain solid, engaging part.

Elegant but never stylized lens by Chris Menges helps sealing cracks stylistic, while the rest of the tech package is uniformly pro.Subtle use of London locations will be geographical sense to national audiences and fortunately not go overboard with gunfire continued for the London Eye and Big Ben.Technicolor Deluxe (camera), Chris Menges.Editors Dody Dorn, Robb Sullivan.musique, Sergio Pizzorno, music supervisor, Jen Monnar designer Martin Childs.administration art, Mark Raggett, Sarah Stuart; set decorator, Celia Bobak; costume, Odile Dicks - Mireaux .son (SDDS/DTS/Dolby Digital), David Stephenson.supervision his publisher, Per Hallberg Rerecording Mixers, Michael Minkler, Tony Lamberti; supervisor of special effects, Stuart Brisdon; Visual effects, Simon Frame, Phil Attfield, Paul Norris; Molinare.Coordonnateur stunt, Lee Sheward producer Vincent Joliet.associer producers, Justine Suzanne Jones, Jacob Rush.Assistant guiding, Richard Styles, Todd Lent; casting, Nina Gold, Loree Booth.revu Odeon Norwich, Visual effects supervisors Norwich (United Kingdom), November 25 2010.Duree: 103 MIN.Contact the Newsroom of the variety to the news@variety.com

A full review will follow when it opens wide, but it screened at the Paramount yesterday evening (27 October), so here are a few thoughts.

-Of course, this is the version of Cattail WRESTLER. Of course. Same relationship sideways Athletics popular and mainstream culture, body manipulation same questions, he used steroids, it pays to vomit, even to linger on rituals (ring, breaking the shoe toe dressing), stuff like that.

- But it is also much plus.Balletsploitation claustrophobia, paranoid, female, psychedelic, contested, monstrous, FUNNY, sexy.

-Unlike entirely too many movies in General and a writer as light festival, contrast strongly with the "Black Swan" dialogue is virtually useless. The lowest scenes are style talkiest and adhesive felt exhibition-fairy tale.No yammering here mumblecore. -frame is tout.Il could thus be a silent movie, and it is by no means a bad thing. This is the old school cinema.

-Casting is not perfect.Natalie Portman as child Nina has to wear the film in his face, which often takes the whole picture, but it offers attentive, measured way.Mila Kunis is excellent as the rival/opposite of Nina, China doll superego Portman.Winona Ryder's id number as the head of the former company on the verge of retiring (and bitter about it) is brilliant (and slightly average) stunt 1990s casting, but it is fully set.Vincent Cassel kills as artistic director lewd and Barbara Hershey has never been more terrifying (even when her lips are afraid).Who knew that she was hearing this time for "What?" that happened to Baby Jane

-However, - Rorschach apartment in Kassel test is a bit much."Lake of swans" is the only ballet is concerned?

-Aronofsky is not shy about referencing his background, but you mind. There are a ton of Polanski early and amount just for Cronenberg here. There is also a bit of horror Japanese body as imagined by filmmakers such as Takashi Miike and Shinya Tsukamoto.Il is not that surprising that Aronofsky summer speaks as a "Wolverine II" helmer and what is called "The Machine man."

-There are strobus.Strobus very graves.Vous have been warned.

-But Aronofsky made peace with his impulses psychedelic and experienced much better Taming his side baroque .c ' is the level of "Pi" that drugginess "Requiem For a Dream" slicked it is still a trip in the rabbit, but by hand and gritty hole rather than glossy (or gaga as "Fountain") MTV Street.

-It is an explosion.

CANNES - Despite the glamorous setting of the French Riviera, the movies that played at this year's Cannes Film Festival portrayed a world that has hit rock bottom.

A washed up movie promoter takes a group of New Burlesque stars to seedy French towns in Mathieu Almaric's "On Tour." A group of monks in Algeria are beheaded in Xavier Beauvois' "Of Gods and Men."A low-level Barcelona fix learns he's dying of cancer and ends up accidentally gassing a group of Chinese immigrants in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's "Biutiful."

A nanny is brutalized in Im Sangsoo's "The Housemaid." Hundreds of hoodlums are systematically executed in Takeshi Kitano's "Outrage."A grandmother tries to figure out how to respond to news that her grandson has been involved in a gang rape in Lee Chang-don's "Poetry."And an alcoholic woman watches her life pass by in Mike Leigh's "Another Year."
All of these movies are competing for the Palme d'Or, which will be awarded today. Aim even movies screening outside the official competition had dark implications.

A marriage unravels in Derek Cianfrance's "Blue Valentine," starring Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling.A nurse for terminal patients in an Hungarian hospital gorges are cream puffs in complete boredom as she watches a wall of heart monitors in "Adrienn Pal." The world faces unimaginable apocalyptic dangers in Lucy Walker's nuclear arms documentary "Countdown to Zero." And if the world really comes to an end, we might all be so poor that we don't even care, according to Charles Ferguson s riveting Wall Street documentary, "Inside Job"

Of all the movies screening at this year's festival, "Inside Job" has to be the most outrageous, provocative and disturbing.

Ferguson, whose previous documentary was the war analysis "No. End in Sight," contends that Wall Street has become so corrupt that its stench has infected a complicit government as well as academia.

His ambition is monumental. He seeks to explain the finding possible terms, how the financial meltdown of 2008 occurred, and who is to blame. Interviews include a who's who of alleged economic experts, some of whom come off as being Ars en.

The basic premise is this: that the deregulation of financial markets that began in the 1980s has led to a series of meltdowns, each one getting worse, and that both Republican and Democratic administrations progressivement have aided and abetted Wall Street criminals.
Ferguson is quite insist on using the word "criminal."

"I m not against people making money," he said in an interview."But I think the ways of making money should be honest and that people should be doing something useful." That's not the case with Wall Street.Businesses make real things, and they have to stand by what they make. "Banks don't make real things."

Ferguson tracks much of the current financial problems to the unregulated financial innovations such as securitization of mortgages and speculative credit default swaps.

If that sounds like a bunch of gobbledygook, Ferguson wants to explain it. People buy houses, sometimes even when they can't afford to.But banks and mortgage companies make the loans anyway because they get paid by commission. Then they sell those mortgages in bundles to investors.

The financial ratings agencies become complicit in the scheme, assigning high AAA ratings even to the riskiest of investments, including subprime mortgages. And Wall Street brokerages aggressively market these investments to clients, even though they know they are quite risky. In fact, these same Wall Street firms simultaneously invest in credit default swaps that will pay them handsomely if the securities they're selling to their customers fail.

In short, the game is rigged, and Ferguson shows no. deference to such power brokers in his interviews.

Goal Ferguson doesn't stop there. He says business professors throughout the country supplement their incomes by writing reports favoring deregulation and then get paid to sit on executive boards that benefit from deregulation.

He interviews Frederic Mishkin, a professor at the Columbia University Business School, and confronted him with payments he received from the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce to write a glowing report of that nation's economic standing shortly before its financial collapse.Ferguson's big complaint: that Mishkin didn't disclose to investors that he was taking money from the Icelandic chamber.

Ferguson also corners Glenn Hubbard, chief economic adviser during the George w. Bush administration and the current dean of Columbia Business School, as well as John Campbell, chairman of Harvard University's Department of Economics. Both end up being flustered and defensive as Ferguson details ethical conflict.

Goal Ferguson doesn't stop there. He launches a full-scale attack on the Obama administration for what he sees as a business-as-usual approach, most vividly epitomized by two of his top economic advisers, Larry Summers and Timothy Geithner. When asked whether he thinks Obama will take any action to correct Wall Street excesses, Ferguson, who supported Obama meaningful in the 2008 election, answers with a flat "no."

Ferguson said he was well aware that his movie was premiering in Cannes a day after Oliver Stone's "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."He declines, at first, to criticize Stone directly."Let's just say it's a piece of Hollywood entertainment."

But when pressed, Ferguson opens up, noting that Stone glamorizes the very world that he is supposedly attacking, using glowing shots of the New York skylines and all the accoutrements of wealth.Such glamorization led to the first "Wall Street" spawning an unintentional icon, the crooked character of Gordon Gekko. And throughout both movies, there's a concept that Wall Street has a few bad characters among many honourable ones.

In interviews, Stone sounded more thoughtful than his movie did, wondering about the fate of capitalism itself.

"I am confused as to whether capitalism can still work," he said."I would love to see some serious reforms."After (the crash of) 1987, I thought it would cure itself, but it didn't."And there's still a tremendous inequity and injustice."

Goal Ferguson still sees a problem with stone's stance.

"There's an implication in stone's movie that this kind of criminal activity is done by a small number of people on Wall Street," Ferguson said."In fact, this criminal activity is done by a large number of people, with government and academic involvement."

Ferguson says he hopes "Inside Job" will help "demystify the current financial crisis.""I think it's essential that Americans understand so that they can take back their country."

Lord of The Rings: the two towers

Posted by drive under SCI & Fantasy

The Lord of The Rings: The Two TowersNew Line Cinema has published two towers, theatrical release this week and I he picked up yesterday evening and adjusted my sound system prepared for the time being 3 more marathon second film of Peter Jackson epic Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I must say that unlike Theatre, home, the film is a much better watch.I assumes that two times that I have seen in the theatre, I was somewhat more critical of the film.Il there has a few things that lie just a little off the coast for me and keeps the two towers history to be a great film as ose I say, the Empire Strikes Back. But at home, in a more relaxed setting, the wonder of special effects take a back seat and history while being a little sentimental sometimes seems to work a little better than on the big screen.

Wise history you can say many things about the LOTR like that, it is a classic of good versus evil, the rationality of man on his darkest of God versus chaos or love and haine.La issue of racism all temptations of the Asian wicked story and less human is a little embarrassing, but not as bad as say the new Star Wars trilogy, because after all it is a world of fantasy with elves and other, if some that while still apply, we think highly of fantasy land is somewhat less applicable in the real world. I could see that the two towers could relate to the machine of war of WWI and WWII, in the same metaphor that Hemingway uses in a farewell to arms, where it shows black oils and greases tanks on the snow human war machine is dirty and a black stain on the natural world. This is in the film and in primary history Arogan, who must use its force even more and courage to encourage men to oppose the tide of evil, something which most men are reluctant to do so.

The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers (Special Edition)New line has published a special edition of extended includes a soundtrack DTS-ES and splits the film in two DVD discs.Extended Edition includes more scenes and extends the film in the range from 4 hours! in General, the theatrical edition is a little disappointing. First error are layer changes, they are made in such a way that it ruined the atmosphere of the film, and the second problem I had with the DVD, was the final chapter ignored for me for some reason quelconque.Cela totally made me believe that this release was made with as much care Fellowship ring .Nouvelle line includes a Dolby Digital EX soundtrack, but it appears trivial in comparison with the soundtrack of DTS-ES.

In conclusion, while I still think that the two towers is not a great movie, it's enough viewers more pres.techniquement, is a film that takes special effects in the next generation and will probably be remembered more for his Deep of Helm battle scene.

More information about the Special Edition…

Second film by Peter Jackson, The Two Towers in the epic trilogy: Lord rings, some of us left a little disappointed. Release of theatre is great and the epic battle of Helm's Deep is probably the largest battle ever depicted on film scene, but intrigue collapsed in some places, and global film felt rushed in places. Almost an entire year after it is communicated, Jackson has thrown with great dedication and time, a special edition of The Towers extended two which adds not only sequences over an already long film but which many will be DVD together a definitive collector.

For this review, I felt two discs of all four disks containing the movie.Firstly, it is important to mention that the film is distributed in two discs for a reason.DTS 6.1 and Dolbly Digital EX 5.1 audio tracks take much space, and with the film as if long in duration, with two drives for better quality. And it is a good thing because audio wise this edition of the film is impeccable!

Extended special edition of the film adds a few very important and contrary to the additional sequence sequences to the Fellowship of The Ring (Ext Ed) which was mostly some cool looking scenes, additional footage in this film is actually more intrigue rowth first off is the story of two brothers and how it helped and one was not. This changes the perspective all for me.I am sure that if you read the book, you already know this, but for those of us who do not have it large enough to see.Just then the extended scene of suppose how niece of King makes it saids the word "love" Arogan, which is to be even more selective, because of the extended scene comes earlier in the film.Toutes added with images and Arogan leads at this time, that he has at least four different scenes that develop in the film between eux.De what could I say no of battle or action scenes have been modified, added footage is more about the characters and different scenarios.Il makes a difference, because the story seems to be richer and more enjoyable film and less rushed than before.

In fact, most of my criticism of the liberation of theatre is committed in reality.

There is even a scene where Asian faceless enemy is given and respect nature!

Technically, this edition is grande.Les layer changes was an inconvenience common DVD theatre are not a problem here of the tout.Meme colour changes which I complained appear to have been corrected, and the color is accurate to the present.Nouvelle line went also with menus simple instead of fantasy, which simply means, the disk space has been used only for the film and not others.

5 out 5 stars

First look at Sherlock Holmes 2

Posted by Rodneyon 24. 11 2010in new Cat

A first look at Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, alongside Hollywood newcomer Noomi Rapace in Sherlock Holmes 2 hit the net.

I've been disappointed in nature and he was relieved not chased the Irene Adler storyline but fun to see Rachel McAdams those flattering costume vintage .the ' image shows us much other than the evidence that they are filming, and once more the Holmes gets raw.

Yet, it seems they take advantage of Rapace and his rapid ascent to the glory of his brilliant career overseas as it is jumping in Hollywood.

I hope, it is also impressive here that reputation is foreign.

Emma Stone, preparation of Spider-man talks

Posted by Rodneyon 25. 11 2010in new Cat

Emma Stone will argue Gwen Stacy, a potential interest love for Peter Parker in the next restart of Spider-man, MTV Splash recently had an interview with her and she talked about preparation for the character.

"Today I went and made hair tests because I have blonde hair now since Gwen has blond hair," says. ""My natural hair is blonde, is kind of nice.

Pierre also mentioned a certain preparations of repetition since they will be be filming in a few weeks.

"Andrew [Garfield] and I are gone and learned yesterday about science." "Gwen really loves science, therefore we have learned about science," says. "I've been trained at home, so never, I went to chemistry class in a traditional establishment as Gwen is in."It was really good."

I like that they retain more faithful to the BD as Mary Jane didn't come along until much later for Parker. This is a joke running by questions earlier band comic that neighbor may aunt wanted to established Peter on a date of her niece, but it never seems to occur.

In the previous film installments, they went to the interest of love more memorable MJ.Il bothers me always a great decisive moment for Parker as Spider-man in the comic was the death of Gwen Stacy.

This time is paralelled in the scene of the gondola with the clown, where Peter must choose between save his girlfriend and by registering a full gens.Dans gondola comic strips, Gwen and while failing to save both, Gwen dies ever affecting the caractere.Mais in the film he heroically performs two rescues and prevents this character-forming time.

I really like the idea of Pierre as Gwen (people assumed that she would be MJ in his classic red hair - but it is a natural blonde), but if they stick to comics could not make too many films YH ' only hope that they make character have the value and impact on Peter instead of simply a damsel in distress MJ was in the previous films.

Re - Cut Green Lantern Trailer is Cooler

Posted by Rodneyon 25. 11 2010in titles, new chat

A version of the Green Lantern Trailer recut circulates the intarwebz, and I must say that makes the film look a LOT of mieux.Et I enjoyed the trailer.

Nothing has been added to the trailer, just the order of scenes have been cut and reorganized.Largest and most notable changes are notable taunts that Reynolds is known pour.Je, many believed that the success of this film is based entirely on the question of whether Reynolds could park the snark.Which will be difficult because Jordan Hal is supposed to be presumptuous and daring.

Without the time "I know, right-", the stage of processing expected much more froide.Comme trailer together.
