In the path of many popular movies, "Shrek" DreamnWorks animated comedy about an adorable green ogre, found its way to the Broadway stage.
Opening today, "Shrek the Musical" arrived in Austin in a touring production.
As the film won an Academy Award, the stage version finds Shrek living in peaceful solitude in its marshes until its Idyll is disrupted by Pinocchio, three small pigs and donkeys wise-cracking when evil Lord Farqua attempts to rid his Kingdom of all creatures conte.Et then everyone embarks on a mission to rescue a fairytale princess.
With book and lyrics by the winner of the prize Pulitzer David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori "Shrek the" characteristic musical Award winner Olivier 19 songs in a two-act, two-hour show that the first chapter in the history of Shrek graphics.
In shifting production, Shrek is played by Eric Petersen, who joined the touring Broadway production.
